The Sarasota County Film and Entertainment Office (filmsarasota.com) reports $1.05 million in direct spending from film projects during the first seven months (Oct.-April 2010) of its fiscal year which is equal to all film spending of the previous fiscal year. The SCFEO reports an economic impact of approximately $3 million so far. Three indie projects--an original musical/drama, a fact-based sports story and a horror film--will begin shooting within the next several months.
